I want to get into National Honors Society?

I really want to get into NHS mainly because it looks good to colleges, but I havent been informed of it or invited or anything. But I think I qualify for all of its requirements. I have near straight A's. I definitely have a GPA higher than 3.5, and last year (I'm a sopre now) the whole summer, and throughout the school year I did volunteer hours at the Boys and Girls Club. I know to apply you have to wright essays, and that would be simple for me. English is my forte. I'm just not sure how I come about getting in. Any advice?
