Why do we accept such poor quality food in u.k.?

i was hungry so decided to stop at an independent bakery (one of the few left around Guildford) i kind of knew what to expect from the pie i just bought it looked like a manufactured one. the pastry was not cooked properly and had that microwave doughy taste on opening up it was scolding hot and uneatable but i persisted the contents tasted like a salty broth with chicken squares suspended in its glutinous soup this not what i expect from a bakery i expect something that's made there ......two chaps went past enquiring about the pie i said it was rubbish they looked surprised as if to say "what are you complaining about?" ..........the food sold if its in restaurants or shops is so totally crap in this country that people in u.k. have no idea what good food is. after all this time and hundreds of cooking programmes the average person has no idea taste here and will accept any old **** that's served to them
