Is it possible to replace a lug bolt on the rear?

have a 98 nissan almera hatch back an changing a flat tire i snapped two lug bolts it would be my first time to change them would it be possible to do do i have to totally remove the drum an when the bolt is in i heard that you just put it in an about 4 or 5 washers an tighten the nut it will bring it into location an heeelp much appreciated :D stephen
