What can I do to make sure I don't end up as just another friend of hers?

Honesty is always the best policy. Tell her exactly how you feel and if she's not interested, the worst thing she could do is to say no. She's acted interested in you before so I think you should go for it & ask her out (just the 2 of you). Good luck.
