Does my best guy friend like me?

ok so iv liked this guy since 8th. i was really shy back than so he was the one who said i to me first. i got homeschool so we kinda lost touch but in the beginning of 9th grade we started talking again and hanging out. he dated other girls and always told me about them. which broke my heart but i helped him through it. i dated other people as well but none were ever serious. when i heard his girlfriend cheated on him i was so confused how could anyone chheat on somone so wonderful. he was really upset for a few months and i was there for him always. than one time we hung out with our other friend pat, pat kissed me and i was shocked. little did i know that my other friend had liked me at that time so after i kissed pat he gave up on me! i was heartbroken but me and him still hung out than after a while we started doing stuff like kissing. he kept sending me mixed signals cause he said he still wanted to be only friends but hee told my other friend dani how gorgeous i was and how hed think about dating me. that was a couple days ago that he told her that. im just trying to figuree all this stuff out cause he flirts alot with me and ugh help! should i keep trying or just give up?
